The Global Swim Series is proud to announce the 94th race to join the Series, as well as the 5th race in the United Arab Emirates: The incredible, 13th annual “Dubai Holding – Burj Al Arab Swim“, which takes place on March 31, 2017.
Locals and visitors to Dubai will have the rare opportunity to swim around one of the world’s most famous luxury hotels, the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. The iconic sail-shaped tower (the fourth tallest in the world) perches on an artificial island in the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. Making the 800-metre swim around the island is normally impossible due to the high levels of boat traffic, not to mention strong currents.
Set against a magnificent backdrop, this race is the only chance to swim around the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. Nearly 700 participants of all abilities participate in 1600 meters or 800 meters swim organised by Wild Wadi in partnership with Jumeirah Group.
The winners will receive an array of prizes, which have been sponsored by the Jumeirah Group and all participants will receive free entry to the incredible Wild Wadi Waterpark, with an extra 50 per cent discount for a friend, which is located right at the hotel as well!
The swim has been organised by the Dubai Holding Corporate Wellness Programme in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.
It is being billed as part of the UAE’s 2017 Year of Giving, and all proceeds will be donated to the Al Jalila Foundation’s Obesity Research.
Stefan Leser, CEO of Jumeirah Group, said: “The Dubai Holding Burj Al Arab swim is a unique occasion and a truly distinctive experience offering a fantastic opportunity to swim the around the world’s most luxurious hotel.”
A fun-filled community event is one of the most popular fundraising events in the Emirates since the first swim in 2002.
This is a large and growing race, where you get to swim around a global landmark, in one of the most incredible cities in the world… truly a bucket list swim!
