2-logoswow-2With most of the swimming in the northern hemisphere winding down, we are starting to transition to the southern hemisphere!  Australia has just added their 14th race to the Global Swim Series with the Williamstown Open Water Challenge now an official member of the Global Swim Series!

The WOW Challenge is located in Melbourne, one of the major hot-spots for open water swimming in Australia and the world.  This race is in it’s 27th year and brings out about 1,000 swimmers!  It is in fact a whole “swimming festival” and has something for everyone, from the 750m Junior’s race to a full slate of distances for more experienced swimmers, including: 1.2k, 2.5k, 5k & 10k.

But don’t be fooled by the fun, family atmosphere, this race also brings out some of the best and fastest swimmers in Victoria and is starting to draw some fast international swimmers as well!  Jordan Wilimovsky, the current 10k world champion, is one of many world-class swimmers that shows up to race!  The WOW Challenge also doubles as the Victorian Open Water Championship this year so there should be lots of fast swimming and prizes too!

This fun event is a great one to put on the swim calendar this year!  Check out all the details here.
