Caledon Quarry Swim I

About

For the third year, this beauitful, private retired sand quarry acts as the site for the C3 Caledon Open Water Swim Race. New in 2017, the two races (June and July) will occur on a Wednesday evening. The event will end with a BBQ and a fun opportunity for an evening swim and social. Knowing there are many swims and triathlon races on weekends, C3 and PB have moved their past weekend swim race to a mid-week (Wednesday night). The clean, warm water is set up in a safe 1km loop with swim boys every 100m around the swim. There will be music, PA annoucements and a fun mid-week social event.

The Personal Best “Caledon Quarry Swim 1” will be the first of two races this summer held in the fresh waters of the Caledon, Ontario Quarry and will also serve as the season opener in southern Ontario.  It is a great central venue that is about 40-50 minutes drive from Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Guelph making it easily accessible to racers from all over.  For beginners it offers a great opportunity to get racing experience in a friendly environment. For the more experienced, it offers a great shot at an early race.  The races hosted by Olympic triathlon coach, Barrie Shepley and his “Personal Best” organization, a cross training triathlon club promotes and focuses on fostering friendly participation and camaraderie amongst all participants and several different triathlon clubs and open water swimming organizations.
