Aboutthe swim

The “TYR Champions Cup” was originally founded by 3 legendary Russian open water swimmers, including: the first Olympic champion in open water swimming: Larissa Ilchenko, 2000 & 2001 World Champion in the 5k & 10k, Yevgeny Bezruchenko and Vladimir Dyatchin, a 2-time Olympian in the 10k at the 2008 & 2012 Olympics. So, yes, they know open water swimming.

Since then the Champions Cup has grown into the first major open-water swimming series in Russia, with over 5000 participants in just 4 years.

Winners in the past 4 years include other big names from the open water swimming world, such as: Valerio Cleri (Italy), Christian Reichert and Alexander Studzinski (Germany), Michael John Sheil (Australia), Evgeny Dratcev and Daniil Serebrennikov (Russia).

However, not all of those 5,000 swimmers that took part in TYR Champions Cup were Olympians, World Champions and professional swimmers. The race is unique in that it allows everyday swimmers, from 18-75 years old, to swim with some of the fastest and most decorated swimmers in the world. A very cool experience that isn’t often available to most swimmers.

This instant classic also has the benefit of being in one of the most amazing cities in the world… Moscow. There are all kinds of races in the Global Swim Series; charity swims, cold swims, warm swims, long swims, short swims, swims in mountains, deserts and cities. But even among city swims this race is unique.

Picture travelling to Russia, to swim in Moscow, with 1,000 other swimmers, including some of the best in the world. What an adventure that would be! Time to start packing.
