Come join the open water swimming festivities at this year’s Splash and Dash Festival on Sunday, February 25! Hosted just a short drive from Sydney, the “Wollongong Ocean Swims” takes place at Illawarra’s “little Bondi” North Beach.

The Splash and Dash Festival and Wollongong Ocean Swim offers a safe and fun, professionally run event with key services, refreshments, official timing, awards, and prizes as well as post event entertainment. This year, there are 3 ocean swim distances: an 800m harbour swim for anyone over the age of 12, a 400m harbour swim for anyone over the age of 7, and the marquee swim event, a 2km ocean swim called the “Basin2Beach” for anyone over the age of 13.

The Basin2Beach swim is a fun point to point that offers a unique jetty start from Wollongong harbour. The initial 500 meters offer a sheltered “flat water” experience and then it’s all open ocean until the end. Swimmers make their way up the coast to North Beach where they exit the water.

Looking for something other than an open water swim? The Splash and Dash Festival has you covered. You’ll find the beach “Sand” runs at North Beach. There are two distance options, a 2km sand fun run and a 4km sand run. Both runs take place in soft, warm sand.

If you are looking for a mix of both swimming and running, the festival offers three distances of aquathon. The Kids Aqua offers a 200m swim and 2 km run for kids under the age of 13. The Mini Aqua is available to anyone over the age of 13 and offers a 400m swim and 3km run combination. Finally, the Big Aqua offers an 800m swim and 7km run and is available to individuals over the age of 14.

Celebrating it’s 7th year as a premier open water swim event, 2018 promises to be a fantastic celebration of aquatic sports and related activities. You won’t want to miss one of the last open water events of the season. Come enjoy the end of the summer at the Splash and Dash Festival!
