The Kitsilano Challenge
A challenging swim on one of Vancouver's most famous beaches!
The Kitsilano Challenge has been running since 1997 in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Vancouver. Kitsilano is well known for its 137 metre salt water swimming pool situated right on the water's edge, as well as its beautiful beach onto English Bay.
The race starts from the beautiful and scenic “Kits Beach”, which is where the host club, VOWSA (Vancouver Open Water Swimming Association) holds their regular swims. The beach is in the heart of Vancouver and one of the most picturesque beaches in the country.
This ocean swim is usually a comfortable 17-20 C and swimmers can swim in either wetsuit or non-wetsuit divisions. The race offers a wide variety of distances including: 750m, 1.5 km, 3 km, 6 km, 4 x 1.5 km Relay.
Given the very reasonable entry fee and the spectacular location, this is a must for local swimmers and well worth putting on the itinerary for swimmers visiting Vancouver in the summer!
