The Lowcountry Splash is a Charleston classic in this beautiful coastal US city!
The event offers 2 popular distances: a 6 mile/10k swim and a 2.4 mile/3.8k swim (same distance as the Ironman swim), both races will take place in the Wando River and Charleston Harbor.
Swimmers for the 6 mile Splash will start at Daniel Island and swimmers for the 2.4 mile Splash will start at Hobcaw Yacht Club, swimming along the Mount Pleasant shoreline, under the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, passing the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier and finish at the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Center!
Proceeds from the Splash benefit the Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation, a local not-for-profit organization promoting the health and welfare of children in the Lowcountry.
The foundation was established in May of 2002 in memory of Logan Jennings Rutledge (7/30/01-08/26/01). Over the first 18 years of the race, the Splash has raised close to $200,000 for the Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation.
LAPS is the beneficiary of the Lowcountry Splash. Lowcountry Aquatic Project Swimming (LAPS) is a local nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides free swimming lessons and water safety instruction to kindergarten and first grade students from Charleston County School District’s lowest socio-economic schools.
So join the hundreds of other swimmers to take part in this Charleston classic to help a great cause... and have an amazing swim!
