Aboutthe swim

The Navarino Challenge is a world class, award winning sporting tourism event held in Messinia, Greece. The event aims to promote the beautiful area of Greece as well as the benefits of a healthy, active and fun lifestyle. The event itself features more than 25 activities other than the open water swim. There is also a half marathon, 10km and 5km running race, a bike race, Tae Kwon Do, stand up paddling, climbing, golf, basketball, beach volley and many more being featured.

As for the open water swim, any open water swimmer will love this course that features a stunning backdrop in the beautiful Navarino Bay. 2019 will mark the second year of competitive open water races at the Port of Pylos, covering 1 mile (1.6km) on a special swimming route, designed by the Federal Swimming Coach, Nikos Gemelos.

The Costa Navarino is a prime destination in the southwest Peloponnese. One of the most unspoiled and breathtaking seaside landscapes in the Mediterranean, this area has been shaped by 4,500 years of history. Sustainability of the natural beauty and heritage is of the utmost importance in Costa Navarino with much of the land preserved and the building footprint limited to just 10% of the total land area.
