I know, when you hear “exotic” you probably think of some of our other remote, tropical races, like: Ocean Swim Fiji, Bali Ocean Swim, Barbados Open Water Festival, SwimJunkie Challenge – Caramoan (Philippines), Race for the Conch (Turks & Caicos), The Santorini Experience (Greece), or The GSS Global Champs in Cancun, Mexico. Or about 100 other GSS races… but I would argue that these 2 new GSS races in Romania actually fit the definition of “exotic” even better!
The dictionary definition of exotic is: “unusual, exciting and interesting, usually because it comes from, or is related to, a distant country. Foreign and not typically well known.”
How many people do you know that have done an open water race in Romania?! You probably know a lot more swimmers that have swum in the locations noted above! So now you can do a truly exotic swim trip. If you are interested in doing an “unusual, exciting and interesting race in a foreign country”, then this is for you! What a cool adventure this would be!
The great thing is that these races are also very well run and have a lot of great swimmers participating too. It really shows you how global open water swimming is. Our sport is everywhere. For a lot of swim travellers finding new adventures starts with learning of them, so now you know of 2 great races in Romania… check them out!
